The ultimate life of compassion and servant-hood was demonstrated to us by Jesus Christ. The mission of the Compassion Ministry facilitates our calling to reach out beyond our church walls and be the vessel by which Christ’s love can be felt.
"Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. 15I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master…" John 13:14-16
How Do We Do It?
The ministry supports the community through various kinds of community service projects involving:
-- Individuals
-- Small groups
-- Church-wide projects
Each month the Compassion Ministry publishes a calendar of events or offerings. These are opportunities to serve and typically last a few hours in duration on a weekend or throughout the week. At various times throughout the year, we will advertise larger-scale projects that will last longer and take more volunteers to complete. You can serve on large or small projects, as often as you like!
Here are some of our partner organizations at which we serve:
-- Hospitality House – A community food bank
-- Cass Community Social Services
-- Grace Centers of Hope - Home restoration & reconstruction, soup kitchen
-- Sunrise Assisted Living Center - visit and spend time with the elderly in our community
-- Focus Hope – providing meals for senior citizens
-- Angel Tree – Christmas gifts for children of incarcerated parents
-- Rebuilding Together - Home restoration & reconstruction
