FOCUS HOPE - DETROIT

Orchard Grove partners with Focus:HOPE to bring dignity to all through food distribution to those in extreme need in Detroit.

Ways to get involved:

  • Home deliveries are made to homebound seniors by our Orchard Grove volunteer team once every month.
  • Signing up (below) will put your name on a monthly mailing list regarding the serving opporunities.
 

OG FURNITURE MINISTRY - WALLED LAKE

Orchard Grove's Furniture Ministry helps provide gently used furniture and appliances to those in need and helps recycles items.  If you have gently used furniture or appliance you would like to donate please contact the OG Mission Captain.

Ways to get involved:

  • Signup to help pickup and deliver furniture and appliances.
  • The Furniture Ministry is always on the lookout for people who can repair appliances and restore furniture.
  • Signup to help keep our storage facility clean and organized.

HOSPITALITY HOUSE - COMMERCE

The mission of Hospitality House is to end hunger in our community by providing food to those in need. Hospitality House works to fulfill this mission by operating a food pantry and providing referral services to residents in the Walled Lake and Novi school districts and the city of Wixom.

Ways to get involved:

  • On Sunday, Oct 15th, Hospitality House is in need of volunteers to come and help pack boxes with food for their Thanksgiving Drive.
  • Help throughout the week at their food pickup center on
    • Monday 12-7
    • Thursday, 10-2
    • Saturday 11-2

Little Dresses For Africa

Little Dresses for Africa Founded in 2008 byRachel O’Neill is a registerednon-profit 501c3 Christian organization. Their mission is to provide relief to vulnerable children throughout the Continent of Africa and beyond by joining together volunteers to make little dresses out of pillow cases or other simple patterns. This simple effort plants in the hearts of little girls that they are worthy and loved.

Ways to get involved:

  • Some sew.
  • Some pack.
  • Some donate materials and/or shipping money.
  • Some go to Africa.
  • Some send others.

Together, we make a difference, one little dress at a time!

 

Ruth Ellis House - Highland Park

A youth social services agency with a mission to provide short-term and long-term residential safe space and support services for runaway, homeless, and at-risk LGBTQ youth.

Ways to get involved:

  • Assist in preparing meals and snacks
  • Help staff clean-up kitchen after meal times
  • Assist young people with laundry
  • Help young people in the CyberCenter
  • Present positive role models
  • Sorting and organizing donations of clothing
  • Sorting and organizing donations of non perishable food
  • Packing outreach and hygiene supply kits
  • Organizing and storing household items
  • Work with staff to represent the Center at external special events
  • Help with mailings
  • Assist staff with office work, filing etc.
  • Assist with Center’s own special events

Sanctum House

Sanctum House is a safe home for survivors of Sex Trafficking to heal and rebuild their lives. Our program not only offers shelter, it is an 24 month program of personal development and education for women 18 years of age or older. 

Ways to get involved:

  • Sanctum House is constantly in need of basic household supplies:
    • Cleaning supplies
    • Laundry supplies
    • Cooking Supplies
  • There is also a need for quality clothing donations, games, craft materials, etc.
  • Periodically they need help fixing up the house

St. Francis Cabrini Clinic - Detroit

America's oldest free clinic provides a holistic approach toward meeting the primary health care needs of economically disadvantaged residents of Southwest Detroit and beyond.  We serve those who fall through the medical-social safety net and help them connect with basic resources.  We offer education, prevention, and treatment without charge, but with deep compassion and respect for the people we serve and their needs.
