Our StoryOUR BEGINNINGS: It all began in April of 1999 with 38 people in the cafeteria of West Bloomfield High School. With a passion and desire to do something different, Orchard Grove began by using contemporary music, drama, and relevant Bible teaching to reach people who have the misperception that church is always boring and stale. By the end of the first year the church had more than doubled and has continued doing so ever since. From West Bloomfield to the Old Orchard Theater, West Bloomfield Middle School, Abbot Middle School, AMC 20 in Livonia, to our current home at building C in Walled Lake – Orchard Grove continues to be relevant and focused on reaching the community. Ten years later, God has continued to bless Orchard Grove in keeping with its mission to "Help People Find and Follow Christ." We continue to open doors to all spiritual backgrounds, sharing the life impacting truth of the Bible. Along the way we have continued to add new ministries to serve the needs of people within the church and outside its walls. WHERE WE ARE GOING: Please see our WHO WE ARE: Orchard Grove is an interdenominational church that desires to reflect the loving heart of God. Since its first days in 1999 Orchard Grove’s heart has been to help people discover how to live a life of passion and purpose. Because helping people find true fulfillment in life is God’s desire, it is also ours. God’s arms are open to anyone and everyone who comes to him, so our arms are open wide as well. ORCHARD GROVE IS A CHURCH THAT IS: CHRIST CENTERED: Jesus is God’s son and our Savior o Our message is Jesus Christ and Him crucified. "... of first importance that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures..." (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) BIBLE BASED: The Bible is God’s word and the best guide for life. o Our practices are grounded in the Scriptures. We accept the Bible as God’s infallible Word and it is the final authority for all: Beliefs and Behavior, Doctrines and Duty, Creed and Conduct. (II Timothy 3:16) MISSION MINDED: Everything we do is to Help People Find and Follow Christ. o Our mission is to fulfill Christ’s Great Commission of Matthew 28:19-20. We exist to develop disciples of Christ as full (Ephesians 4:13), as far (Matthew 28:19), as fast (John 9:4) as possible. CROSS-CULTURAL: The family of God is made of many colors and cultures. o "...a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language..." (Revelations 7:9) SPIRIT SATURATED: We can live with passion and purpose for God as we let His spirit live in us. o The New Testament Church, which we accept as our model, was a Body of Believers saturated with the Spirit (Acts 1:8; 2:4). The Church is empowered by the Spirit to fulfill the Great Commission. ORCHARD GROVE KEEPS IT REAL! We believe: It’s OK to have doubts and ask questions. It’s OK to sit back and observe and analyze. It’s OK to disagree with things you hear us say. Maybe you’re wondering who God is and how He might relate to you. Maybe you’re checking out the claims of Christianity, but aren’t quite sure how or if organized religion fits into your life. If that describes you, great! We’ve designed our weekend services so you can feel comfortable seeking the truth at your own pace, with no arm-twisting.
